Improving Medication Adherence

As an initial investigation into how people could benefit from in-home and mobile medication reminders, our team presented a few concepts to 28 participants divided into five groups organized by age and gender.

These concepts involved the use of medication reminders on the television as well as over a mobile phone. We first asked participants about their current methods for managing their medications, identifying a number of challenges, such as forgetfulness, logistics, and regimen complexity that interfered with adherence. We also uncovered a number of different approaches to addressing these problems, such as relying on friends/family, incorporating medications into routines, and even adjusting their regimens to be more convenient.
